Collective Behaviour in the Time of Pandemic: Living Alone in Digital Dwelling

Through language as well, COVID-19 turns to be a very susceptible viral data.

The continuous mechanistic process in maintaining the bodily compositions makes the idea of body as not solid, but rather fluid.

Within the vast, infinite digital environment, such a ‘de- and reterritorialization becoming state’ is constructed using linguistic technique of algorithmic coding and data processing.

The always on digital device. The never-ending digital presence. The author wonders if her digital presence is getting daunting to herself or more so to others.

Digital engagement with multiple devices is scarily a norm yet non-participatory due to the lack of democratic choice to participate.

The author attempted to immortalize the sensorial feelings of lights and sight upon seeing the Gundam Robot in Japan during her visit there. To her, this is a participatory sensory experience as she chose to enjoy the scene.

On the Nature of Daylight – Being at home 24/7 made me notice how daylight affects the ambience inside my home. I noticed this light pattern on my wall one morning.

Using Playform, I trained the A.I to combine the colours from photos of gardens and the outlines from photos of living rooms. The living room photos were collected from a survey conducted by the collective. The garden photos were taken from copyright free images on Flickr.

Even in a landed housing area, having a garden where one can grow beautiful flowers and green plants, no matter how tiny the size of the garden is, can be considered as a luxury to many of the residents. (Image source: Author)

The best way to improve indoor air quality is to reduce pollution from the source while improving ventilation and purifying the air. Green surroundings provide ample of clean and fresh air

Visual comfort is influenced by the quality and ambience of the lighting, the availability of outdoor view that is connected to nature and the clutter-free space that allows one to feel relaxed.

All-in-one room : A home is now considered an all-in-one place that fits all activities performed indoors: a place designated as workspace, study area, child day care, gym, entertainment centre (or lack thereof) and many more.

I have found solace in horror movies

Bringing the outside in: I’ve converted my room into a camera obscura. I covered all my windows and only let light in through a small hole. I’ve always wanted to make a camera obscura. Now it has a completely new meaning that I am stuck at home. I can take the outside in but it’s only an optical illusion. Sometimes it feels like the light at the end of the tunnel is only an illusion.
